BRICS Lays Groundwork for Joint 2025–2026 Clean Energy Roadmap at Tehran Meeting

BRICS member states convened in Tehran on the second day of the 4th Meeting of the bloc’s Working Group on New and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

Delegates engaged in strategic discussions aimed at shaping a joint clean energy roadmap for 2025–2026. Led by the Center for Progress and Development of Iran (CPDI) Presidency, the high-level talks focused on aligning national priorities, advancing the energy transition, and enhancing cross-border cooperation in clean technology and innovation.

Participants underscored the need to establish data-driven platforms and shared research infrastructure, calling for enhanced knowledge and technology exchange along with increased investment in specialized training and human capacity development in the field of clean and renewable energy.

BRICS representatives also proposed holding an annual BRICS conference on renewable energy to showcase the outcomes of joint projects and strengthen collaboration and networking among member states in this domain.

The Tehran dialogue signaled strong political will to address shared energy challenges through coordinated action. Delegates emphasized the need for inclusive and flexible approaches that acknowledge each country’s unique energy landscape while pursuing common goals.

The meeting was held in a hybrid format, combining virtual and in-person participation. It marked a significant step toward a more unified and proactive BRICS energy agenda. The discussions are expected to pave the way for transformative joint initiatives and a lasting impact across member states and the broader Global South.
